Some people say that the purpose of education is to prepare individuals to be useful to society. Others say its purpose is to prepare individuals to achieve personal ambitions.Discuss both views and give your opinion

The realm of education has long been debated in terms of its primary aim: whether it is to forge individuals into societal cogs or to empower them for their own dreams. I firmly believe the true essence of education lies in nurturing everyone to achieve personal ambitions. In contemporary society, many argue that schooling serves as a means of training people to play a useful role in their working fields. In the backdrop of a rapidly advancing world, nations are ever reliant on educated masses to ensure progressive economic and societal growth.
This
advancement inevitably leads to an increasing demand for professionals in various sectors, from technology to medicine.
For instance
, countries like Singapore have meticulously tailored their educational systems to meet the needs of their thriving economy, thereby producing a workforce aptly skilled to maintain its status as an Asian economic powerhouse. When these professionals seamlessly integrate into the societal fabric, it ensures not only economic prosperity but
also
societal stability and progress.
Consequently
, the success in educating citizens becomes a cornerstone upon which societies can forecast and shape their future trajectory.
Conversely
, there's a growing consensus that educational purpose is more individual-centric, aiming to prepare people to realize personal achievements. In an age where personal growth and mental well-being are increasingly prioritized, individual success is often intertwined with a sense of fulfilment. Tailoring one’s education to align with personal aspirations,
such
as pursuing arts over traditional STEM subjects, allows us to find our true calling. A celebrated case is that of Sir Ken Robinson, who propagated the idea that many are educated out of their creative capacities, emphasizing the need for personal ambition-driven learning. Achieving personal targets not only ensures individual contentment but
also
brings about societal innovation and diversity, as each person contributes uniquely to the societal tapestry. In my view,
while
societal contribution is crucial, the paramount purpose of educating people should be to facilitate them in realizing their personal achievements. Personal ambition-driven learning fosters passion, and it's
this
very passion that often leads to groundbreaking discoveries, innovations, and societal contributions. Consider the legacies of visionaries like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk; their schooling, moulded by personal objectives, eventually culminated in transformative societal impacts.
Thus
, when the educational purpose aligns with personal aspirations, it will ultimately benefit the community as well. In summation,
while
both perspectives discussed above hold merits, it's the pursuit of personal ambitions that drives both individual and societal progress. When schooling nurtures these pursuits, society reaps the multifaceted rewards.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
