Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing
this
to express my concern regarding the poor collection of garbage in my area. Which is the second Street of Modara, Galle. My name is Achint Ishara. I am living in the No 30 House The First one is that the regular rules and regulations are conducted by the local council that the labourers should come to the every Monday Wednesday, and Saturday for collecting to the recycling materials.
Apart from
this
, the non-degradables are brought every Sunday. But unfortunately, they are not coming to our street on that particular day.
Moreover
, they are
also
available in our city only on Monday and Sunday. To be honest, we are facing a lot of problems
due to
this
litter collection. Because of
this
, mosquito breeding places are arising, some animals are habitats in our area
such
as street dogs, and rats. I would like to recommend some possible measures to prevent
this
. The first one is that we can start a new community to maintain
this
problem
such
as garbage collection, some voluntary programmes to clean our area and so on. I would highly appreciate it if you would take any action to resolve
this
. Hopefully, I will receive positive feedback. Thank you in advance. Yours faithfully, Achini.

coherence and cohesion
Ensure that the greeting and closing are formal and appropriate for a letter to a local council. Use 'Dear Sir/Madam' as the standard greeting and close with 'Yours faithfully' or 'Sincerely'
coherence and cohesion
Organize your ideas into separate paragraphs, each focusing on a single aspect of the issue and its impact. This will enhance the clarity and logical structure of the letter.

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
