The table shows the proportion of shopper spending on three different categories in Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
Overall
, these five countries mainly spent on food or drinks or tobacco while
the least on leisure or education.
For the first category of food or drinks or tobacco, Turkey experienced the highest percentage of 32.14% followed by 28.91% in Ireland. Additionally
, the other four countries showed a similar amount of spending in the range of 15.77% to 18.80%.
In comparison, the expenditure on clothing or footwear was moderate which was below 10%. Italy spent the largest amount 9% while
only 5.4% for Sweden. Besides
that, the remaining countries disburse approximately 6% of these items. In the other category of leisure or education, Turkey also
spent the most at 4.35% compared to Sweden, Italy and Ireland at 3.22%, 3.20% and 2.21% respectively. On the other hand
