The cycle initiates with flies hatching out of the salmon eggs between the stones where reeds are growing on them in the upper rive after a growth period of approximately 5 to 6 months. Subsequently

slow stream down to the lower fast-moving river, where they then
spend about 4 years to get bigger extending about 12 to 15 cm, known as the smolt.
In the next phase, smolts run through the river and appear in the open sea which offers them a habitat for further
growth. After around 5 years, these smolts ultimately become adults in the ocean and then
