A restaurant has placed an advertisement for waiters and waitresses in your local newspaper. Write a letter to the restaurant, applying for the job. In your letter, ● explain what you are currently doing ● describe your suitability for this area of work ● say when you can attend an interview

Dear Sir or Madam,    I am writing to apply for the waitress post in your
restaurant
- the McDonald's, that you have advertised in a local newspaper recently.    For the
last
2 years, I have been working in the position of manager  at the
restaurant
. Unfortunately, I have moved with my family to another city. I had to leave my profession.
As a result
, I am unemployed.   I was responsible at restaurants for managing the cleaning and serving staff in my previous job.
Also
, I was able to build good working relationships with all the staff in my responsibility.   One of the benefits for me, the
restaurant
is located near my house.
That is
why, I can walk to work.
This
helps me stay healthy and keep fit    I believe I am the best choice for
this
position as I have a lot of experience in my previous role.    I possess the right combination of communication skills to be an asset  to your
restaurant
.    If you consider me suitable for
this
job. I am able to meet with you at any time.   Please contact me whenever you want should you wish to arrange a meeting. I appreciate your consideration of
this
application and I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully Malikova Sevinch

Ensure that all of the points mentioned in the task prompt are addressed clearly and adequately. Also, maintain a consistent and formal tone throughout the letter.

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
