Some
people
believe that students should take a gap year before going to university,
while
others are certain that
this
is not a good idea. In
this
essay, I will look at the pros and cons of
this
approach and give my personal opinion. On the one hand, a free year after high school can be extremely beneficial for young
people
. The free time will allow them to find their first job and try it out. It will help them to find out how to deal with challenges in real life.
In addition
, the first real work activity is said to be a good way to find a suitable job later on and to make changes in life and study plans.
On the other hand
, all the limited knowledge acquired at school over the
last
decade could be lost in the blink of an eye because of the gap, as seventeen-year-old wards do not tend to be responsible enough to use
this
opportunity wisely. Too much free time,
for example
, could lead to drug addiction or even to associating with the wrong
people
. In my opinion, children should be properly prepared for
such
a bold undertaking as a gap year. Parents and children need to invest time and money during the summer holidays to find the best path in terms of university education and future work preferences.
This
method could prevent young
people
from getting into trouble and help them to find a place in their future lives.
