From 1972 to 2012, Adult fiction outperformed the other demographics with a higher sales ratio. 20% in 1972 and then
the sales ratio increased to 25% in 1992. From there, it took a high jump in 2012 which was at 45 %. Moreover
, Children’s fiction had a consistent approach throughout the years. It started at 20% and stopped at 25%.
In contrast
, Travel and biography
formed almost similar percentages throughout. In the beginning, both were at the highest level which was around 15% travel and 20% biography
. But, they ended in 2012 with lower percentages like 10% travel and 8% biography
