The diagram below shows the stages ad equipment used in the process of making matches. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the process and the equipment used in the production of matches.
Overall
, to make matches a lot of gear is involved, such
as a peeler, chopper, dryer, hopper and four tanks with various liquids. The small wood
pieces go through four stages of initial wood
processing, transporting, immersion in chemicals and finally
packaging.
First of all, a log is rotated in a peeler and a blade cuts it into the long thin veneers of wood
. Thereafter
, they are chopped into shorter pieces to be put into a tank with ammonium phosphate. Next,
these short sticks are dried and spilt out to the hopper, where they are blown through the metal duct to the storage area
.
The next step is
that matches fall into a pipe that carries them to the inserter. There, the wood
pieces are attached to a perforated steel belt and transported to the drying area
. Along the way, matches are immersed into three tanks with paraffin wax, based chemicals and tip chemicals. Eventually, almost-ready matches are going through the drying area
, to be further
packed in a special area
