In their advertising, businesses nowadays usually emphasise that their products are new in some way. Why is this? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

In recent days, when making advertisements,

tend to reiterate the novelty of their goods. In my opinion, enterprises are prioritizing it as a measure of attracting consumer’s attention and promoting sales, and
this
trend has a negative impact on consumer behaviours.
To begin
with, emphasizing uniqueness is a feasible approach to get their products to stand out. Nowadays, with the rapid circulation of information, formulas and manufacturing techniques are no longer secrets. On the shelves, multitudes of homogeneous commodities are competing against each other, which makes it really difficult for consumers to select.
Furthermore
, advertising the freshness of the products makes them more conspicuous, as now they have the qualities which others lack, and it makes them special. In
this
practice, it is more likely that buyers notice the merchandise of that company and end up buying it.
In addition
to
this
, promoting innovation is
also
a means of meeting certain customers’ demands. These years, novelty serves as the goal a great many shoppers pursue, as it sometimes equals fashion, uniqueness and status, helping them be distinctive from others.
For example
, people love to choose eco-friendly items as it suits their idea of protecting the environment and differentiate them from those who don’t.
As a result
, emphasizing
this
can bring a lot of ardent supporters of the products. From my perspective, the drawbacks of
this
outweigh the benefits, as the uniqueness can never be of the same significance as the core characteristic of the merchandise.
Moreover
, users may be misled, caring too much about the new things the commodities have
instead
of the actual quality of them if the business promotes too much of the freshness.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
