The maps describe the changes that took place between 1967 and 2001 in Felixstowe in the UK.
Overall
,
this
town underwent a number of dramatic transformations, the most important of which are the disappearance of farmland and fish market, the establishment of public and private beaches and the construction of wind turbines. The golf course area remained in the northwest throughout the period examined,
while
many stores located on a high street were converted into apartments. In the northeastern town, the farmland was knocked down to make way for amenities
such
as a swimming pool which was oval in shape, a hotel, and tennis courts catering for recreational needs. In the southwest, trees were planted more than that in 1967, which was accompanied by four wind turbines being set up on the coast to manufacture renewable energy. The hotel stationing in the downtown saw a considerable upgrade with a big parking space for its customers and staff,
whereas
the nearby coffee shop was moved closer. The public and private beaches were open with a direct view to the sea, replacing some infrastructures like a marina, pier, and fish market.
