Write at least 150 words.
The line graph displays the
number
of
students
from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and
Singapore
who stayed in Australia for study purposes from 1982 to 2000.
Overall
, it can be seen that the
number
of overseas
students
increased over the time
period
. At the beginning of the
period
,
while
Malaysia had around 5000
students
staying in Australia, the others had none. Despite a steady upward trend during the entire 18-year
period
, Malaysia finished at the lowest rate of all the countries. Hong Kong and
Singapore
started their increase both around the year 1987. Unlike
Singapore
, whose
number
of overseas
students
had a slow and steady gain from there, Hong Kong's
number
of
students
in Australia spiked to 5000
students
in a single year. Apart from an increase in 1889, it remained constant from 1888 to 1895, when it started a fluctuation until it rose to almost 20000 in 2000.
Finally
, Indonesia's
number
had a similar pattern to
Singapore
. It started with a steady growth in 1984, followed by a notable rise from 1994 to 1997 and ended up with almost 25000
students
after a 3-year
period
of fluctuation.
