underwent significant development and modernization over the 80-year period, with new residential and educational facilities replacing the old agricultural and commercial ones. In 1930, the
village

Stokeford
consisted of a few houses and shops on the east side of the River Stoke, which was crossed by a bridge. There was
also
a post office and a primary school near the bridge. On the west side of the river, there was a large area of farmland. By 2010, the
village
of
Stokeford
had changed considerably. The farmland had been replaced by a housing estate, which extended to the west. The shops had been removed and new houses and roads had been built on the east side of the river. The primary school had been enlarged and a retirement home had been constructed on the former site of the gardens and the large house. The only features that had not changed were the post office and the bridge.
