Today every large city facing traffic jam problem. what are the causes and how can it tackle

One of the biggest concerns facing every large city authority across the world is how they can solve the
traffic
congestion
problem
in their cities.
This
essay will highlight the causes and provide solutions to overcome them. As we know it, big urban areas are always similar to overpopulation and overcrowded areas which leads to the
traffic
congestion
problem
.
To begin
with,
traffic
congestion
occurs because almost every civilians have their own cars or motorcycles.
In contrast
, highways did not experience an increase in their capacity so they can not accommodate the
traffic
's enormous numbers.
Furthermore
, poor public
transportation
services
also
contribute to these problems.
Due to
the causes I mentioned above, the fundamental solution that the Government should do in large cities to deal with the
traffic
congestion
problem
is enhancing the quality of public
transportation
services
. Great
services
of public
transportation
encourage people to use it and gradually leave their habits of using their own car. To illustrate, in Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia, the local government provide various choices and a great service of public
transportation
to the citizens like Trans-Jakarta, Mass Rapid Transit, and Light Rail Transit in order to reduce the
traffic
jam
problem
. Despite
this
is not an easy process and requires a long term of time to change people's habits, at least Jakarta has started. In conclusion, regarding the
traffic
congestion
problem
in many large cities across the world, the government should make a massive improvement in their public
transportation
services
to reduce
this
problem
.
