These maps highlight the plan for future upgradation of Islip town
centre
.
Firstly
it is planned to encircle the town
centre
with a dual carriageway
road
connected to the existing
road
on the western and eastern sides. The school will remain in the existing location, south of the carriageway
along with
the old housing complex. The existing main
road
will be closed to traffic and converted to pedestrian only. The shops north of
this
will be transformed and incorporated into a new shopping
centre
.
Additionally
, a bus station and car park will be made adjoining
this
to facilitate increased footfall. At present, Islip town
centre
has two housing areas, adjacent to each other in the south. It is planned to increase housing quarters to four, with the additional housing located within the dual carriageway
road
south of the main lane and east of the car park.
