The current trend in education is to move away from traditional exams and instead have continuous assignments over the school year. What do you think of this trend?

The latest trend in the educational system is to always give
students
homework rather than the usual
examination
.
Although
assignment removes the pressure on
students
to study for the
examination
, school tests should not be removed because they improve the memory of
students
and help the teachers assess their level of learning. Traditional examinations can be a way to enhance the memory of
students
. By
this
method,
students
have to recall the lessons they have studied in the previous months. It has been proven that if a person wants to improve his memory, continuous repetition is needed.
For instance
, in the Philippines in one school year
students
have to take four examinations. In order to remember the lessons from the previous months, they have to re-read again all those topics.
As a result
, it helps them remember the topics they have covered before.
Thus
, exams should not be eredicated in the educational system.
In addition
to that, it
also
helps the teacher assess the level of learning of his
students
. Failed
examination
can help the teacher assess the weak areas of the student. Maybe the student has difficulty in math subject or has poor eyesight which is why he did not do well in the exam.
Thus
, he can focus more on those who need help.
For example
, in universities, if the
students
fail the
examination
some professors give them a second chance to study again and retake the exam so the student will be able to graduate.
This
proves that exams play a significant role in education. In conclusion,
although
assignments remove the strain of studying for learners, I believe that tests should not be removed because they improve the minds of learners and help educator determine their abilities.
