More and more people want to buy famous brands in clothes cars and other items . What are the reasons behind this trend? Do you think it is a positive or negative development

There has been an increasing number of shoppers wanting to get their hands on branded goods like clothes, cars and other luxury goods. It can be argued that
this
trend can be either a positive or negative
development
. In
this
essay, I will address both sides of the coin by using famous footballers as an example before presenting my view.
To begin
with, most famous footballers these days are endorsed by major brands to don their products. These athletes can either be seen exercising in branded clothing or driving downtown in their posh supercars. By simply doing so, they have captured the attention of their
fans
who will be influenced to purchase similar items as well. In terms of profiting from all the attention, the major brands are seeing it as a very positive
development
as they can see their sales figures rising sharply every time their sponsored star

their apparel.
For instance
, it is reported that American company Nike, quadrupled their earnings for the year 2009 when Cristiano Ronaldo started to represent their brand.
On the other hand
, as more and more football players are signed to represent other brands,
this
has
also
led to adolescent
fans
demanding extra allowance from their parents in order to dress like their idols.
This
development
negatively altered the thinking of these
fans
as they misunderstood what being successful is like.
For example
, in the United Kingdom, it was found that 6 out of 10 teens stole from their parents' wallets so that they could splurge on luxury goods
as a result
of being heavily influenced by their idols.
To conclude
, I do agree that in terms of commercial revenues for these companies, it is a positive
development
and the possibilities are endless with regard to profiting from the footballing market.
However
, I
also
think that it is generally a negative and worrying
development
that young
fans
are too engrossed in the glitz and glamour of what they are wearing because their favourite player is wearing
this
and driving what.
