Modern societies need specialists in certain fields, but not others. Some people therefore think that governments should pay university fees for students who study subjects that are needed by society. Those who choose to study less relevant subjects should not receive the government funding. Would the advantages of such an educational policy outweigh the disadvantages?

In recent years, an increasing number of
students
have decided to continue their education and receive a university degree. There are two different points of view regarding whether governments should pay the university fees for all
students
or they should just subsidize some particular
subjects
. In
this
essay, I am going to discuss these two opinions and give my personal view. Obviously, there are some fields that are more demanding in certain societies.
For example
, in Iran medical and engineering
subjects
are more needed.
Therefore
, allocating a considerable amount of budget to free education for these fields is rational. The advantage would certainly be that more
students
will be encouraged to choose these difficult majors, regardingly, there will not be a lack of workforce.
On the other hand
, if authorities subsidize only some specific fields most of the
students
will choose those regardless of their real interests and intellectual capabilities.
Moreover
, the country might encounter a lack of specialists in those
subjects
. Another negative point is that

not all
students
can afford the educational fees so they may give studying up.
Therefore
,
this
approach will have some significant long-term drawbacks and consequences can be irreversible. To tackle
this
problem, governments can limit the number of
students
who apply for a course by taking entrance exams and choosing the most capable ones.
To conclude
, based on what is discussed above, in my opinion, the importance of having specialists in various
subjects
is undeniable.
Thus
, governments should avoid
such
discrimination because

this
will have some destructive long-term impacts on society.
