The given bar charts depict the ratio of students from the age 14 to 16 who learned a second language in an English-speaking nation and the three most common second languages in 1984 and 2007. Looking at an
overall
perspective,it is readily apparent that the girls' proportion was higher than the boys' counterpart.
Additionally
,the chunk of both females and males decreased slightly.In the second chart,French and German experienced a decline
whereas
Spanish rose rapidly.
To begin
with,the girls' standard was approximately 49% in 1984 but the quota tended to go down in 2007 accounting for 40%.
Moreover
,the boys' percentage faced a similar trend to the females' chunk.To be more clear,in 1984 boys' estimate elucidated at 30%
then
deteriorated to nearly 25% in 2007. Turning to the remaining chart,French was the most dominant language which reached 50% in total.
However
,in 2007 French plummeted around 23% in 2007.In terms of Germany,the amount slumped from 20% in 1984 to 10% in 2007.
By contrast
with French and German,Spanish experienced a two-fold increase from 2% up to 10% in 1984 and 2007 respectively.
