The diagram shows the procedure by which uranium can be used to produce nuclear power. There are six stages in the
process
from extraction to disposal with some of the processed material being reused
instead
of being buried underground in sealed containers. In the first

uranium needs to be mined from the ground before undergoing a
process
of enrichment and conversion. The end result of
this
process
is fuel pellets called U-235 which are
then
used to produce energy in nuclear power plants.
This
process
is fairly clean with the pellets producing a great deal of fuel and lasting for four years before they are removed. Once they have been removed it is possible to reprocess some of them so that they can be used again.
However
, not all pellets are capable of being reused and need to be disposed of, so are put into special containers and buried.
