The pie charts show the changes in the proportions for different forms transport which people used to get to their offices and turn back in a European city in 1959 and 2009
The chart illustrates the difference in the proportion of transport
people
use to get and turn back from work in European cities.
It is clear that
more than half of the employees walked to and from work in 1959 whereas
car users increased and took almost half of the ratio in 2009.
In 1959, most of the workers walked to their office and also
came back by foot as we can see that 55% of them used foot. It was a normal phenomenon as the average distance was 3.5km and the average duration was 17 minutes. It was followed by bus and train which had the same percentage at 15%. Although
buses and trains were the second most used transportation, there was a big distinction between the foot. Not many people
had vehicles back in 1959 so cars took 10% and the others 5%.
However
, there was a big change in 2010. As the average distance rose to 19km and the average duration increased to 42 minutes, people
using cars increased to 35%. Even though there was a drop in the proportion, still a lot of people
walked to their office which took 25%. The rate of people
using the train remained steady at 15% but the people
riding the bus decreased to 13%. Employees using other methods increased to 12%.Correct quantifier usage
