The graph below shows the population of foxes on four different Californian islands between 1994 and 2014. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The
line
graph illustrates the population
of foxes
on four different Californian Islands, including San Miguel, Santa
Cruz, Santa
Rosa, and Santa
Catalina
from 1994 to 2014.
The San Miguel line
had the least number of foxes
for the specified time period. Starting with almost 400 foxes
in 1994 then
the figure decreased until it reached the lowest point in 2000 to 2002 with a population
of foxes
under 15 heads
. After 2002, its population
rose to around 400 families and has remained stable since 2010.
The Santa
Cruz line
and the Santa
Catalina
boundary have a similar starting point, which is around 1333 heads
or more. Then
, both populations decreased and reached their lowest point in the year 2000 with only around 15 heads
. The Santa
Catalina
population
began to grow again in 2002, earlier than the Santa
Cruz’s. Although
both lines eventually surged to a higher figure, around 1666 heads
in 2014. The difference between them is the pace of growth. The Santa
Catalina
grows earlier but slower, showing some plateau. The data in Santa
Cruz grew rapidly, only showing a bit of a flattened line
from 2010 to 2012.
The last
line
is the purple circle line
which is the Santa
Rosa line
. It started with the highest number of population
, reaching almost 1780 heads
then
started to drop rapidly and had the lowest number of all lines in the year 2000. It eventually grew at a relatively slow pace and had the second least population
in 2014.
In conclusion, all of the lines show the population
of foxes
decreasing especially in the year 2000, then
it grew at different paces with different final numbers of population
in 2014.Submitted by riani.the2 on
