The diagram below follows the development of a village close to London from 1868 to 1994. As witnessed in many similar situations, the main concentration of growth lies near important transport routes. The figure follows the timeframe in which the roads and the population around them have been developed.
Chorleywood Park and golf course are located in the community’s central segment around which two main roads, a motorway and a railway are built. The main lanes, where the initial residents had been living, are located in the north and west wings of the park
whereas
the motorway, built in 1970, is placed on the east and the railway, built in 1909, on the south border.
Even though the motorway is older than the railway, the growing population has opted to gather around the former more so than the latter. For example
, before 1922 the population was concentrated around the intersection of the main road and the rail track where transportation would have been most comfortable. The same trend happened up til 1970 and it was not until 1970 that the area around the expressway experienced a blast.
Overall
, the society demographics show the most expansion in the intersections, save for the northwest corner, which is understandably due to
the rising importance of quick transport in today’s busy life. It is well expected that the isolated section on the north-west would be soon populated.Submitted by anahitakhosravi4 on
