The figure provided reveals the proportion of owned and rented houses from 1918 to 2011 in England and Wales, measured in percentage.

, it is evident that
while
the owners' rate rose significantly, the rate of rented households saw a decline from 1950 to 2000. Turning first to rented accommodation,
initially
it stood at approximately 68% in 1950, and
then
this
fell dramatically to 30% in 2000.
Nonetheless
, the percentage of rented accommodation experienced a slight rise in the following 20 years and
finally
, it finished at almost 40% in 2020.
However
, the level of owners took the opposite way in comparison with the renting ones. In the beginning, it stood at 32% , about half the amount of rented ones in total.
Then
, it saw a gradual increase in the following period at 70% in 2000. By 2020,

level had fallen slightly to 63%, higher than rented houses in 2020. Interestingly though, the statistics for both owned and rented accommodation in 1970 experienced an equivalent rate at 50% respectively.
