The diagram depicts different kinds of meat and fish
consumption
in a European country between 1979 and 2004 based on grams per person per week. During
this
period, chicken was the first
consumption
rank, with 230 grams per person per week on average, followed by beef, lamb, and Fish, with average amounts of 130, 100, and 50 grams per person per week, respectively.
While
fish intake was relatively constant during
this
timeframe, the
consumption
of other items changed significantly. The intake of lamb has declined almost continuously over
time
, from around 150 in 1979 down to around 60 in 2004. Chicken ,
on the other hand
, has been under different alterations over
time
; starting from 210, the
consumption
has fallen to around 170 in a short
time
, with a subsequent rapid increase. The intake has similar changes over
time
with an ultimate of around 260 in 2004. Beef
consumption
increased rather steadily until 1989, yet a constant decrease was witnessed afterwards, which can be attributed to the effect of pricing and supply and demand.
