The line graph provides data about the proportion of the
population
in four Asian countries living in urban areas between 1970 and 2020, with a forecast for 2030 and 2040.
Overall
, the proportion of the
Philippines
'
population
living in cities was high at the beginning
while
Indonesia
's percentage was the lowest
however
it has outstripped the two country's percentages in 2000 and 2010. Another noticeable feature is that the patterns of all countries were erratic until 2010
then
started to grow steadily. To start with, in 1970 the proportions of the
Philippines
' and Malaysia's
population
living in cities were above 30%
then
the latter rose considerably to 48% in 1990
although
the former outstripped after a slight increase in 1980, constituting 50% in 1990. Followed by, Thailand's and
Indonesia
's percentages which began at under 20% after 30 years, their figures were equal, making up 29%. In 2010, Malaysia's figures continued climbing
while
the
Philippines
witnessed a slight decrease to 42% which allowed

to surpass its percentages, showing 45% respectively. In 2020, the share of all county's

Indonesia
and the
Philippines
which are expected to peak at above 50%.
However
, figures for Thailand are going to increase steeply to 49% by 2040.
