It is clear that
in 1960 the vast majority of citizens used buses,
whereas
by 2000, the demand for them decreased significantly and they were substituted by cars.
Overall
, we can see that trains and the
tube
were relatively equally popular throughout the period. Focusing first on buses and cars, in 1960 the percentage of commuters using the public transport mentioned before was at the level of 40%, compared to only slightly more than 5% of those who commuted by car. By 2000, the situation became absolutely opposite, with nearly 40% of trips done by private transport, and only 15% by buses. In 1980, roughly 25% of people travelled by both types of transport. As for the other two types of vehicles, 20 to 30% of citizens went to or from work by train or
tube
in 1960,
whereas
in 1980
this
figure increased to almost 30% for train lovers, as opposed to approximately 30% of those
