The chart shows the number of people leaving Ireland and unemployment rate in Ireland.
The line chart illustrates the unemployment rate and the number of
people
who left Ireland from 1988 to 2008.
Looking from an overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that there was a decline considering both cases, although
the number of individuals leaving the country ended with an upward trend.
At the beginning of the period, the proportion of the ones who went abroad, and jobless residents were almost the same (16%). Both items fluctuated from 1988 to 1996, reaching 12% and just below 8% for unemployed individuals, and the inhabitants who left their country. In the case of the jobless people
, a sharp decline can be seen from 1996 to 2000 getting to a trough of about 5%, while
the figure for people
who left, did not change dramatically (roughly 7%). In 1998 the figure for people
going abroad overtook the number of the unemployed crowd.
From 2000 to the end of the period, the percentage of unemployed citizens stayed almost unchanged. However
, the proportion of the group who went to other countries increased sharply, reaching well above 12% in 2008.Submitted by faranakasadzadian on
