The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The maps illustrate the current layout of Islip
town
centre
and a proposed plan for its future development. Currently, the main road runs through the
town
centre
, with shops on both sides. Housing is located to the south of the main road,
while
a park lies to the east. A school is situated in the southwestern corner, and the countryside extends to the north. In the proposed plan, the
town
centre
will undergo significant changes. The main road will be replaced with a dual carriageway encircling the central area, which will become a pedestrian-only zone. The northern shops will remain, but a new shopping
centre
, bus station, and car park will be added.
Additionally
, new housing will be built on the northeastern side, replacing part of the countryside. The park will remain, though it will be slightly reduced in size.
Overall
, the development will modernize the
town
centre
, prioritizing accessibility and expanding residential and commercial areas.
