Dear Dara, How are you? I hope everything’s going well with you. I’m writing because I just got a job offer in your city, Lincoln, and I’ll need to move there soon to start work. Before I make the final decision, I really wanted your opinion about what life is like there. The job itself is really exciting—I’ve been offered a data analyst role with Samsung, which I think will be a great chance to grow my skills and move closer to my career goals. Honestly, I’m thrilled about it, but I do have a few worries about living in Lincoln. From what I’ve read online, the transport system isn’t very reliable, and some areas are said to be noisy. Since I’ll be using public transport every day and I prefer a quiet place to focus on tasks,

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
