task response
The essay stops after the introduction, so it does not fully answer the question. Write one main part about single-sex schools and one main part about mixed schools.
task response
Explain why each type of school may help children. For example, single-sex schools may help some students focus, while mixed schools may help children work and talk with different people.
task response
Add clear, real examples to support your ideas. Then finish with a short ending that repeats your own view.
coherence and cohesion
Use a simple plan: introduction, first view, second view, your view, and ending. This will make your essay easy to follow.
coherence and cohesion
Use linking words to show the order of your ideas, such as 'First', 'However', 'For example', and 'In the end'.
coherence and cohesion
Make each main part focus on one idea only. Start with a clear first sentence, explain it, and give an example.
language
Use 'perform better academically', not 'perform greater academically'. Also, write 'single-gender schools' or 'mixed schools' without repeating the same idea in one sentence.
language
Your opinion sentence can be clearer: 'In my view, both types of school can work well if children feel comfortable and supported.'
task response
You clearly show both sides of the topic: school results and social skills. You also give your own view.
coherence and cohesion
Your first lines have a clear start: you introduce the two views and then state your opinion.
Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
Topic Vocabulary:
  • minimize distractions
  • gender-related learning styles
  • tailored learning environment
  • sense of empowerment
  • underrepresented
  • bridge the gender gap
  • emulate real-world environments
  • promoting interactions
  • communicate and collaborate
  • break down gender stereotypes
  • mutual respect
  • inclusivity
  • well-rounded individuals
