In the past, shopping was a routine domestic task. Many people nowadays regard it as a hobby. To what extent do you think this is a positive trend?

Shopping used to be considered as a regular domestic activity in the past.
However
, nowadays it has found its place among
people

the people
as
one
of their hobbies. I strongly believe that
this
trend is negative owing to irrational expenditure and
waste
accumulation at shoppers’ end.
This
essay will endorse the view as mentioned earlier.
Firstly
, adapting shopping as a leisure activity compels
one
to spend irrationally.
This
can be understood by the fact that in order to purchase various items recklessly,
one
indulges in unnecessary expenditure which can lead to poor management of

monetary
and financial crisis. As an exemplification, in a recent article published in the New York Times, it has been revealed that debts and mismanaged money-related decisions are
one
of the prime issues in the modern society. People’s inclination towards shopping as a hobby has resulted in
this
unfortunate scenario.
Therefore
, impractical money management is
one
of the problems caused by the given development.
Secondly
, buying things as a part of
one
’s leisure results in piling up of a huge amount of
waste
routinely.
In other words
, bringing home more and more products from markets not only results in accumulating a lot of
waste but

waste, but
also
causes the problem of its proper disposal. Take the case of the USA; the country is known for producing

the maximum amount
of plastic
waste
globally. The reason quoted behind
this
figure is the habit of the natives to indulge in shopping even when they do not need to buy. As a matter of fact, shopping as a hobby affects

. In essence, it is evident the modern approach towards shopping has its repercussions. It is hoped that people adopt productive ways to spend time and efforts and shop only when it is required.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
