Some people say that supermarkets and manufactures have a responsibility to reduce the amount of packaging on the products they sell. Others say that it is the responsibility of consumers to avoid buying products which have a lot of packaging. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It is considered by some that the responsibility to reduce the packaging on products lies with supermarkets and manufacturers that sell them, while there are others that think that

responsibility lies with consumers. In my opinion, I believe that
this

is a shared responsibility, as everyone plays a role in maintaining a sustainable environment. On the one hand, supermarkets and manufacturers should take the initiative and onus to encourage consumers to make greener choices. Supermarkets and manufacturers adopting sustainable packaging approach will pressure consumers to change their environmentally unsustainable habits. Supermarkets’ decision to ban single-use

Hence

, supermarkets and manufacturers play a key role in decreasing packaging on products.
On the other hand

, consumers have a vital role to play as manufacturers are catering to their needs. Consumers being environmentally aware when they make their purchase by choosing products that have been packaged in less wasteful ways could reduce packaging waste substantially.

Finally

, in my opinion, I believe that it takes effort from both supermarkets and manufacturers as well as consumer to effectively reduce the packaging on products. The actions taken by each party have direct and indirect influence on encouraging the reduction of packaging waste.
This

is because the demand from consumers will influence the products produced and offered by supermarkets and manufacturers, while the products offered by supermarkets and manufacturers will allow consumers to make greener choices. In conclusion, collective efforts from both sides are required to reduce excessive packaging waste.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
