Some people believe that if a police force carries guns, this encourages higher level of violence in that society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

People argue that allowing
police
officers to be armed with guns would increase the rate of criminal
violence
in society. Personally, I totally disagree with
this
view. For a variety of reasons, it would be wrong to argue that the possession of guns by
police
forces would lead to higher
violence
rate.
Firstly
, in reality, having
such
weapon would allow
police
to control criminal situations without using physical
violence
. As most people are frightened of guns,
police
can easily force suspects, wrongdoers or robberies

and arrest them.
Secondly
, guns
also
deter potential criminals from committing crimes.
For example
, robberies who intend to rob the bank might think carefully before acting and probably give up if there is the presence of
police
officers equipped with firearms protecting

Therefore
,
this
policy would decrease the
violence
rate rather than increasing it. I am of the opinion that
police
officers should be entitled to own guns. The principal reason is that nowadays there is a significant increase in gun-related crimes, and it is difficult for
police
forces with sprays, batons, or electric shock weapons to tackle dangerous situations.
This
allows criminals to be more powerful, and
police
officers might be compelled to do what they want. The other reason is that the ownership of guns could not only be useful in legitimate self-
defense
(military) military action or resources protecting a country against potential enemies
defence
situations but
also
help
police
forces protect the public.
For example
, when a policeman is threatened by escaping criminals or terrorists, he could

will not only decrease the number of violent

criminals, but

contribute to the protection of the public.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
