Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Over the
last
few decades, we have witnessed that the environmental condition has worsened. Some people say the main problem is the extinction of particular
species
of plants and animals while others hold the opinion that there are still more serious problems. From my perspective, the loss of biodiversity should not be overlooked indeed

but there are still other problems that are more important. Thanks to deforestation, more and more
species
of plants have disappeared. Companies and governments despoil the resource of nature, draining it dry simply to make benefits. In the past few years, the Amazon rainforest has been seriously damaged, and the Brazilian president

to blame as he carried out a policy that encouraged logging and reclaiming. Meanwhile, The extinction of some

also
a problem, for illegal hunting has put many

in danger. We have seen the extinction of animals like Dodos, while thousands of others are now struggling on the edge of

.
Although
it would be sad to hear that many animals and plants are disappearing from us, there are some other problems of more significance. Water pollution has become disastrous since the 20th century. In some developing countries, factories cast industrial waste into rivers without being filtered, which polluted water in all the nearby villages. To make matters worse, once it was drunk by man or animals, serious diseases will break out and spread across the whole area. What’s more, global warming is another potential threat to us. Too much carbon dioxide has been emitted, causing the rise of the sea level all around the world. Research shows that places like Maldive and Mauritius will soon get drowned, annihilating not only plants and animals but the whole local civilization. Considering the above-mentioned, I would argue that
although
the loss of biodiversity is an important problem, we should pay more attention of problems like water pollution and global warming, since it will not only affect plants and animals but human ourselves directly.
