With pressure on today's young people to succeed academically, some people believe the non-academic subjects should be removed from the syllabus so that children can concentrate wholly on academic subjects. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In today's highly populated environment, the level of competition seems to follow Morse's law,

The
latter increases almost exponentially every two years.
This
level of competition instils a sense of fear into some people and forces them to take

a non-inclusion of non-academic subjects.
Although
it might make sense in the mind of a concerned parent, I strongly disagree with the idea. The interests that reside among young students are unique and I believe that they are to be given an opportunity to gain an exposure to all fields and schools of thought since

them being able to develop rational thinking. Only upon exploring subjects

This
exposure
also
instils a sense of what they aspire to be in the future. Non-academic subjects require a very dynamic approach to learning and
this
boosts the cognitive capacity of the brain and
hence
helps in lateral thinking which pushes them to probe for solutions and ask important questions in the future, something that today's world so desperately requires. History has shown us that having an early introduction to classical topics

as
art
and music is a strongly coupled trait of geniuses

as the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Albert Einstein. Original research in academic subjects

ideas, and to be able to visualize them and develop one's own style and approach to these subjects requires a great deal of inspiration which can be sourced from various non-academic subjects. When subjects that provide a source of relaxation are removed, it would surmount greater pressure as opposed to contrary beliefs of some people. The mind requires some time to unwind and relax and
such
forms of
art
help keep issues related to mental health at bay.
Although
non-academic subjects serve a multitude of benefits and might even re-orient the career choice of a student, these are compartmentalized into categories named "extra-curricular" which eventually are deemed not to be fit to pursue as a career option.
This
is an uprising social stigma
that is
quickly gaining speed and
this
can only be curbed via educating the surplus population that the various forms of
art
and expression are greatly beneficial to the mental and physical health of all and sundry. In conclusion, I would state that non-academic subjects are a necessity in the modern world and their presence in the curriculum must at all times stay put.
