Some people think that the best way to improve road safety is by reducing the maximum limits on vehicles, others think there are other better ways. Discuss both sides and give your opinion

Some people are of the opinion that in order to ensure safety on highways, speed limits should be maintained while a few other people posit that there are other salient measures to be taken to ensure safety on roads. Admittedly, other reasons could be responsible for accidents on our roads, but in my opinion, placing speed limit is the most direct solution to ensuring safeness on the expressway. On the one hand, it is a known fact that speed is the most common cause of accidents on the expressway. Exceeding the stipulated speed limit allowed on a road have been the main cause of accidents on highway.
Thus
, placing a cap on the speed allowed has a direct solution to hazards occurring on highway. In the US, about 70% of highway accidents are
as a result
of exceeding the maximum speed cap.
Additionally
, the fact that most ghastly accidents usually occur on roads without speed cap than on roads on the hinterland. Roads within the city having speed breaks and bumps on the road only experience

into fatal cases. On the flip side, speed lovers have posited that other reasons are responsible for unsafe roads and not just speed. They have argued that driving drunk is responsible for about 60% of accidents. Resultantly, laws have been enacted to ban people from drinking while driving.
Furthermore
, most mishaps occurring on the roads are usually caused by careless driving and loss of concentration. Admittedly, there are other factors responsible for unsafe roads

, in my opinion, implementing speed limit is the most objective solution. It is the

step in eliminating mishaps on roads with a direct impact on road safety.
