The diagram illustrates how an Australian town collects rainwater for the purpose of drinking. Overall, the whole process of
water
 purification is done in four steps.
Initially
, the rainwater from rooftops of all houses is drained into a gutter and filtered through a
water
 filter to remove any impurities and collected in a storage container, until it is used for
further
 treatment.
Finally
, the
water
 stored in the storage is transported through underground pipes to the
water
 treatment area. At
this
 stage of the process, the
water
 is treated with chemicals in order to make it fit for drinking. Once the
water
 is ready for consumption, it travels along the pipes to each house in the town, for their daily activities. To sum up, rainwater collected from houses can be used for drinking after it has been processed by a filter and
then
 treated with chemicals.
