Some people think that professional athletes make good role models for young people, while others believe they don’t. Discuss both these points of views and give your own opinion

Some believe that professional athletes,
such
as soccer players, tennis players and the like, act as the modern heroes of our time. Since ancient times, the prowess to fulfil difficult physical challenges has been acclaimed by society. Today is not so different; the public is still fascinated by the ascendance and the eventual fall of their heroes. Sports events are highly praised in many societies. The World Cup,
for example
, stops many countries in each fourth year. After being exposed to
such
events since early in life, it comes as little surprise,
thus
, that youngsters often look up to professional athletes as
role
models.
This
apparently stems from a profound admiration of some of their attributes
such
as perseverance or grit, just to cite a few. All of which are highly valued characteristics in modern society.
On the other hand
, others claim that
sportspeople

are not the ideal examples of

. Rather, the young should seek for aspiration in their parents, they explain, who are supposedly able to foster not only sporting traits but
also
moral values. What is more, not rarely, some athletes end up hitting the headlines, displaying some dubious behaviour off the pitch,
for instance
, which might have a negative influence on children.
Hence
, that professional athletes play an

role
in the imagination of young people is evident.
However
, albeit I acknowledge that admiring
sportspeople
might be beneficial to some extent, it is my belief that parents are ultimately the most suitable to assume
role
models. After all, society is built up upon a whole myriad of traits, many of which are not necessarily found

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
