Nowadays many people go shopping in their free time. Shopping has replaced many other activities that people used to choose as their hobby. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or negative development?

and it is perceived as a replacement of several other activities that people do as a hobby. In

and explain that
this
development can be beneficial to people. With the advancement of technology and a fast-paced lifestyle, people rely on shopping during their free time to detach from their hectic work.
Firstly
, leisure time is the perfect day to buy groceries and essential things for oneself or for the whole family, for one, cannot basically leave the workplace just to buy things at a grocery store or mall.
This
activity can only take an hour or more, but it will not hinder anyone to do his/her other hobbies or try a new set of skill.
Secondly
, many people find shopping as a form of therapeutic activity.
For example
, most of my peers look forward for their day off because shopping gives them a comforting feeling. To purchase a new set of clothing or simply buying groceries gives them a rewarding feeling because it is from a hard earned money. For me,
this
situation can provide benefit to the people.
For example
, it can help them enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
Hence
, they can
also
suffice the needs of their family. To add, shopping is
also
a form of family bonding, and it can strengthen relationships.
For instance
, it will yield awareness about what each of their loved one prefers or what sort of items they fancy. They can
also
ask for the advice if what products to buy or what type of clothing suits them well. Overall, shopping cannot replace several activities that people would do as a habit. But there are a lot of factors why people do
this
activity mainly because it is therapeutic and that their day off is the only time wherein they can purchase items. Shopping is a positive development because it is a form of enjoyment and can strengthen family relationships.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
