Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?

People in cities around the world face a common
problem
of
traffic
and
pollution
. Some people claim that increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve
this
problem
. Personally, I disagree with
this
solution. Consider a developing nation like India. The prices of petrol have been increasing over the past decade. Has
this
solved India's
traffic
and
pollution
problem
? The answer is "No".
On the contrary
, we can see that Delhi, a city in India has become one of the most polluted cities in the entire world.
This
hasn't stopped the people from buying cars or bikes. There are two areas where the government and the private can work to solve
this
problem
.
Firstly
, investing in natural, alternate fuels and technology firms. Natural sources like solar energy and alternate fuels like electric energy help control
pollution
drastically.
For instance
, consider private firms like Tesla in the United States and
Ather
Suggestion
Other
Electric in India who work on batter driven vehicles.
Secondly
, making public commuter services great again. The government can work towards interconnecting the cities better and build ecosystems where people can hop on and off at different points using one pass system like in Singapore. On top of that, taking the case of Singapore, the government can
also
increase vehicle tax, thereby encouraging people to opt for public transport more than a private mode of transportation.
This
not only benefits the people using the service, but
also
helps tackling both
traffic
and
pollution
problem
. In conclusion, I firmly believe that increasing the petrol prices would not address
pollution
and
traffic
problems.
However
, investing in alternate fuels, technology and making public transport more attractable helps solving
this
problem
in the long term.

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
