some people think that sports are important, while others think that they are just leisure activities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Sports play some role in our
life
Suggestion
lives
. Some people regard them just as recreation activities, while others believe that sports are more important in our
life
, and I agree with
this
idea. The argument in favour of sports being
leisure
activities would be that some sports are relatively less strenuous.
For example
, an activity which is less energy-consuming for individuals is climbing. People can shoot the breeze with their friends while going forward to the top of a mountain.
This
type of sports allows people to unwind and keep updated with their friends, just like other
leisure
activities do,
for instance
, going to a tea house with some friends, singing some songs in a KTV.
However
, I’m convinced that sports doesn't only play a role as
leisure
activities, they
also
definitely have a positive effect on our physical and mental health, which makes them more important in our daily
life
. The sedentary lifestyle is taking its toll on our health.
For example
, obesity, nearsighted, autism, and neck problems become more and more popular. Doing sports can help us handle these problems.
For instance
, the players have to raise their necks from time to time during play badminton, which helps relax their stiff neck. And playing
such
strenuous sports
also
can make players more open-minded which is helpful for tackling the problem of suffering from isolation feelings. In conclusion, different types of sports have different functions, while some sports can be considered to be
leisure
activities because of easy-doing, most of the activities are playing a more important role in our daily
life
.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
