In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

It is quite apparent that global warming is becoming a more and more pressing problem. Just as the name suggests, global warming is the rise in the average temperature of the
atmosphere
.
This

affect
many life forms on the earth, and even drive some species to extinction. As
such
, we need to work together to solve
this
issue. And the
first
step to solving any problem is to find out what causes it. The main factor in the global warming is greenhouse gases as it damages the ozone layer. The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon.
However
, the rapid rise in greenhouse gases in the

decade, mainly
stems from human activities. Most people would attribute the problem to the burning of fossil fuel for energy, as it releases an enormous amount of CO2 into the
atmosphere
every year. But it is not the only cause. Our increasing demand and use of motor vehicles is
also
a source of global warming as the burning of gasoline produces carbon dioxide. Trees help regulate the climate by absorbing CO2 from the
atmosphere
.
As a result
, when they are cut down,
this
positive effect is lost and the carbon stored in the trees is released into the
atmosphere
. The most significant solution
this
disaster is the use of alternative energy sources,
such
as wind, solar,

plant materials and animal waste used as fuel
biomass
, geothermal and hydro. They do not produce any sort of pollution or toxic gases that can lead to global warming.
However
, their high costs may drive both energy companies and individuals away from them. But in the long run they will surely be beneficial. Another solution is to cut back on the usage of vehicles which produce them. Some people have started using bicycles and public transport. We can make donations to organizations working to the solve global warming by planting trees or doing research as well. There are
also
many voluntary groups you can join. Obviously, if no reaction is taken, it will soon be too late to save our planet.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
