Many offenders commit more crimes after serving their first punishment. Why is this happening, and what measures can be taken to tackle this problem

The rate of illegal activities has increased after the criminals have released from the jail for the
first
time. In
this
essay, I will outline the reasons behind
this
and suggests ways to resolve the issue. There are two reasons causing the offenders to repeat their mistakes after they have served their
first
punishment.
First
of all, the chances to find the jobs in the society are slim for the wrongdoers as they have criminal records.
However
, they still have to find their source of income to live
hence majority
Suggestion
the hence majority
of them
then
resolve
this
issue by searching easier alternatives
such
as returning back to crime.
This
is
also
interrelated to the
next
reason, which is the lack of rehabilitation during their serving period in the jail. The absence of correct moral behaviour as well as the essential skill sets to survive in the competitive and judgmental world lead them to choose the wrong path as they believe they do not have an option and the relevant expertise to earn a living once they are out.
This
Suggestion
These
two points are the reasons why they continue to commit crimes even though they know the consequences.
However
, there are steps to deal with
this
issue
such
as implementing rehabilitation service during the their lock up in the prisoner and having a close supervision on the ex-convicts while they are out in the community.
First
of all, all criminals are given the chance to retrain with practical and functional skills so as to foster a smooth transition to the outside world while they have released. Not only does
this
helps them to reintegrate back into the society, it
also
provides a means of financial support for them.
Secondly
, having a close monitoring on them;
this
is to ensure they are well behaved and stay out of any illegal activities.
For instance
, if the ex- criminals about to commit a crime,
this
solution would deter them from committing and serve as a warning, hopefully they will reflect and think twice afterwards. If these two solutions are taken, I believe the rate of unlawful acts perpetrated by
second
time offenders will decline. In conclusion, the reason why the trend of recidivism is rising is because they often have difficulties finding occupation outside and
lack
Suggestion
the lack
a lack
of crucial training in the jail. So by incorporating relevant lessons and close observation of the perpetrators, the number of crimes committed by them will be reduced.
