Today the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

information and help them to make the best choice. Currently, there is an argument that the high sales of commodities are the results of the development of advertisements, rather than the actual demands of customers. I do agree with
this
statement.
First
, the high sales of some products are the consequences of a considerable number of persuasive advertisements aiming at selling brand images. To be specific, in order to maximize the benefits, many factories tend to invite hot celebrities to endorse their commodities, which appeals to those impulsive fans and brings about high sales. Simultaneously, the publicity expenses are likely to be transferred to the price of the commodities, and
consequently
, the sellers achieve high profits, while customers may suffer from meaningless financial expenditures. The
second
point to make is that advertising always manipulates consumers into buying the commodities that they do not actually require. Many misleading advertisements tend to exaggerate the efficacy of some goods and tempt people to purchase them.
For instance
, some television commercials selling health products targeting the elderly, most of whom are lacking in discernment. These health products with false advertisements easily convince the old of their effects and encourage them to pay for the goods. As a matter of fact, these products are not able to meet the health demands of the old. In conclusion, I totally approve of
this
opinion. From my perspective, advertising behaviours in a free market should be effectively regulated, and that exaggerating the non-qualified products should be strongly resisted.
