The food travels thousand of miles from farm to consumer. Some people think it would be better to our environment and economy if people only ate locally produced food. What extent does the advantage outweigh its disadvantage?

It is indeed that due to globalization, foreign
food
is easily accessible to all, regardless of place and many believe eating only locally grown products would be beneficial not only for the
environment
but
also
for the
economy
. In my opinion, the advantage of
this
practice far outweighs its
drawback
because it can boost the
economy
of the country. Admittedly,
this
practice has some drawbacks, and one of them is having a detrimental effect on the
environment
. To elucidate, if people resist
food
produced within the nation,
then
the
food
will be imported from other countries and exported locally grown
food
through aircraft, lorries and any other sort of transportation.
Hence
, it could be a greater contributor to global warming, which is the biggest threat to human life these days.
For example
, a recent survey on
environment
Suggestion
environmental
pollution by the Scientist reported that 15% of pollution due to the import-export products and
this
results in an unsustainable
environment
. In spite of the aforementioned
drawback
, I believe the benefit of
this
trend far outweighs its disadvantage since it fosters the country’s
economy
.
This
is because, if people give
first
preference to locally grown
food
, definitely farmer will feel encouraged and they try to produce the best quality
food
for their consumers and money directly goes to them.
Therefore
, it could be of greater support for the local
economy
.
For example
, India is the
first
country which uses 95% of its land to cultivate different sort of grains, pulses, vegetables and fruits, that are sold fully to its local citizens, which results in an increase in the farmer’s morale to grow more with the best quality and supports the Indian Government by not importing
food
from other countries. In conclusion, an increase in the global warming is the inevitable
drawback
to the
environment
, still, I believe the advantage far outweighs its
drawback
as it helps in supporting farmers’ and increase the economic-financial stability of the country.
