The development of tourism contributed to English becoming the most prominent language in the world. Some people think this will lead to English becoming the only language to be spoken globally. What are the advantages and disadvantages to having one language in the world?

Language
plays an important role in tourism as it makes the tourist to commute and understand the new culture easily. The tourism industry has developed profoundly in the
last
decade where foreigners, mostly from English speaking countries, have travelled round the
world
.
In addition
, every year people take vacations and travel to these English-speaking countries.
This
has brought a debate to announce English as a universal
language
.
Although
this
idea
provides easier communication between individuals and eliminates an interpreter, it does include drawbacks. Notably, it would destroy the existing old cultures in the
world
and the art of learning new
language
skills among individuals. The
idea
of following a monolingual
language
all over the
world
,
firstly
, will allow people to talk to each other easily with more freedom. The vocabulary, jokes, humour, idioms and phrases can be well understood by individuals. The travel industry, in specific, will benefit humongous since travellers can talk to the local people in the same
language
, visit several places, and can do shopping without having any
language
barrier.
Secondly
, there would not be a need of
language
translator to speak with non-English speakers. It allows a direct communication with anyone and eliminates any misrepresentation of thoughts.
On the other hand
, every culture has its own history and a
language
is connected to it. Having a single
language
, would destroy several cultures and communities in the
world
. Tourists may find the travels, less interesting and boring.
Additionally
, the art of learning
new
Suggestion
a new language
language
will be diminished and everyone will become monotone. To conclude, English is spoken predominantly by many tourists, and since it has contributed massively towards the tourist industry, people are welcoming the
idea
of having a single
language
in the
world
.
However
, it needs to be understood that
this
idea
possesses its own pros and cons, and one needs to carefully weigh both sides before making any decision.
