The table compares the expenditure on various items in five countries in 2001 in percentages. Overall, all the five countries Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey spent the most on food, drinks and tobacco, whereas, the least on leisure and education. It is evident that almost one-

 of the expenses in Turkey was on eating, drinking and smoking, followed by Ireland at 28.91per

Additionally
, the spending on the same for the other 3 countries, Italy, Spain and Sweden was 16.36%, 18.80% and 15.77% respectively.
On the other hand
, the Spanish people emptied their purses the least on Leisure and education at 1.98 per
cent
, while, the Irish citizens for the same at 2.21%.
Similarly
, the rest of the countries too spent the minimal amount on recreation and study.
However
,for clothing and footwear, the spending of four nations was almost equal around 6 per
cent
 except for Italy which was 9 per
cent
 that year.
