Some people think that it is the responsibility of the government to take care of the environment, while others believe that it is the responsibility of the people to take care of the environment.Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is argued by some individuals that the
role
of preserving the
environment
lies with the
government
, while others contend that
people
should play
this
role
.
This
essay agrees that the
government
should provide
services
to conserve the
environment
.
People
pay taxes so that they can be provided with
services
by the
government
. As
such
, the
government
should make sure to provide a habitable
environment
to its
people
by creating
environment
conservation parks and planting trees in areas with less greenery. Failing to do so would lead to a lower quality of life for the
people
which would reflect in the
next
election results. As an example, countries with a higher quality of life
also
tend to have governments that are proactive with respect to environmental conservation
efforts
. Some
people
claim that
people
should modify their behaviour in order to help the
government
in implementing these
services
. They argue that these
services
would be useless if

However
, I believe that
people
's
efforts
are more useful if there are already large scale systemic
efforts
in place. Without the support of the
government
,
people
, on their own cannot cause large scale changes in the
environment
because they are mostly concerned with their own lives and cooperation between
people
would be difficult without an authority. To conclude, the
government
plays a far greater
role
in conserving the
environment
than the
people
. The
role
of individuals in helping with the implementation of environmental
efforts
is minimal and comes after the
government
has set up programs for environmental conservation.
