There is a heated debate about whether the younger generation is qualified for important positions in the
government
. In
this
essay, I will discuss the viewpoints of both supporters and opponents, as well as give my own opinion. On the one hand, a few
people
insist (khang2) that the young are not suitable for critical positions in the
government
for the following main reason. Young
people
are characterized by immature and inexperienced nature so that they tend to make decisions without enough consideration. As a consequence, if they are in charge of important departments in the
government
, their imprudent actions may give rise to serious results and a high price which they would have to pay.
On the other hand
, some
people
argue that younger
people
should be given more opportunities to do
government
tasks because young
people
are receptive to new notions and innovations. They are expected to bring their innovation style to the operation of the
government
which is commonly considered to be rigid and conservative.
For instance
, in some cities, young officials are taking advantage of online social networks to interact with residents, and
therefore
deepen mutual understanding as well as enhance the ties of the
government
and the public. As I see it, the young should be encouraged to take more responsibilities for
government
work since
this
is an effective way to change the stereotyped
government
and improve public service.
Although
young
people
are likely to make mistakes due to their lack of experience,
this
is how they grow and become competent for their jobs in the years to come.
