Some people think that planting trees in open spaces in cities and towns is more important than building houses. to what extent do you agree or disagree?

In order to meet basic human needs for housing, nowadays most of the free spaces are replaced by highrises and construction sites. According to some people
instead
of building
houses
in any empty places in cities, we should plant
trees
. I partially agree with
this
statement as I believe we should prioritize basic human needs. Generally speaking, the idea of planting
trees
is appealing in the
first
place because we do need
trees
in order to create more oxygen to breathe and tackle air pollution in big cities. At the same time , we are destroying the green part of our planet to build
houses
and road.
In other words
, the question is, how can we settle our population if we do not do so? Where they are going to live. According to some researches done on some populated cities around the world, near 30 per cent of the population are struggling with housing issues .By looking at the rate of homelessness,it is clear that
this
number is increasing as the population growth. It is not surprising to see people sleeping on the street or in the park, or even in their cars. In order to deal with
this
issue, we can not only focus on planting
trees
. In my perspective, basic human needs come always
first
when it comes to deciding about open spaces in towns. If we are living in an area where homelessness is not an issue and people are not struggling to find housing, it makes total sense to planting
trees
in every free corner of our streets.
Otherwise
, we need to tackle homelessness and provide enough
houses
for residents by building more
houses
even if it takes to have fewer
trees
.
